Are you looking to bike Snowmass this Summer when you stay at the Stonebridge Condominiums? Well, we’ve got great news for you! There’s something for everyone here in Snowmass Village. Whether you’re a speed demon on the road bike, a single track warrior, a gnarly downhiller, or just someone who enjoys a good cruise, Snowmass has you covered! Here’s a helpful guide that will explain what routes are great for the style of biking that suits you.
Road Biking
Owl Creek Brush Creek Loop
Get some miles and elevation in on the Owl Creek Brush Creek Loop trail! This loop starts in Snowmass Village, heads towards Aspen via Owl Creek Road, then goes down to the Aspen Airport (where you can get lunch at Roxy’s if you’re feeling hungry). After passing the airport, the trail follows the Rio Grande bike path to the Intercept lot, and then goes up Brush Creek Road back to Snowmass Village. This road biking trail has an intermediate rating, has some beautiful views, and if you’re lucky, you can see elk and other wild life along the way. Elk like to hang out next to Owl Creek Road. The total distance of this ride is 14.88 miles.
Mountain Biking
Rim Trail
The Rim Trail is a Roaring Fork Valley classic! This ride has tons of fun hills and beautiful views of Snowmass Village and the surrounding mountains. If you don’t want to do the entire loop (10.52 miles with almost 2,000 feet of climbing) it is recommended to park at the Town Park Station in Snowmass, and then take a shuttle to the south end of the trail. This ride isn’t too technical, but it is 90% singletrack with wide switchbacks and a fair amount of traffic. It is rated intermediate and the total distance of the Rim Trail is 7.84 miles.
Cruising
Brush Creek Bike Path
Looking for a nice cruise that isn’t too strenuous? This is the ride for you then! Start at the Snowmass Village Mall and take the bike path all the way down to Highway 82. It’s basically all downhill. If you’re feeling like you’d like to ride further, this trail connects to the Rio Grande bike path and you can ride all the way into Aspen if you travel south, or go north and go to Woody Creek! When you’ve gone far enough, locate a bus stop and take the bus back to Snowmass. The trail from Snowmass Village to the Intercept Lot at Highway 82 is rated beginner and is a total of 5.88 miles.
Downhill Biking
Valhalla
Seeking adrenaline? Well, Valhalla’s got plenty of that. This advanced rated trail is getting quite a name for itself and is a ton of fun! To access this trail, take the Elk Camp Gondola to the trailhead. The Gondola opens to biking access on June 24th. After getting to the trailhead, the trail rips through trees, goes over bridges, goes down a few drops, has a wall ride, and many more technical features. The trail is rated advanced and travels down 1,574 vertical feet in 3.3 miles.
