If you have ever spent Mardi Gras weekend in Snowmass, you know the locals take it quite seriously. And by seriously, we mean they throw one big party that you won’t forget.
This year will be the 36th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration in Snowmass Village and each year it seems to get better and better. March 5th will be complete with beads, music and plenty of the classic Mardi Gras outfits, there’s no place we would rather celebrate this historic weekend.
The event starts with the Mother Of All Ascensions uphill race at 7 am. Early risers will skin up to Gwynn’s High Alpine restaurant to start the day off. This year is in its 27th year and the competitors will be battling for 1st!
For the rest of us, entertainment in the Snowmass Mall begins at Noon. There will be various performers and musicians playing, so don’t forget to swing by for lunch.
At 2 pm the first Bead Toss will commence in Snowmass Mall. Don your beads for the rest of the day!
If you missed the first toss, there is another at 3 pm at the Snowmass Base Village.
One of the main events this year will be a fantastic band, Turkuaz, at the Base Village playing from 3 – 5 pm. These guys are full of energy and are sure to put on a fantastic show. Learn more about the Brooklyn-based group here.
If the kids are along for the ride there will also be the Kids Zone Entertainment at Base Village from 3 – 5 pm. There is no shortage of fun no matter what age during Mardi Gras!
Sweet tooth? Don’t miss the King Cake being served at the S’mass S’mores cart in Base Village from 3:30 – 4:30 pm. There will of course also be complimentary s’mores next to the Westin at the same time.
To finish off the celebrations, there will be fireworks at 7 pm over Fanny Hill. Watch the show right from your deck at Stonebridge Condominiums or join the festivities at the Mall or Base Village.
