A week in Snowmass makes for an unforgettable vacation. Day in and day out, you’ll be busy strapping into a snowboard for the first time, snowshoeing up the mountain to see some incredible views, and teaching your kids the pizza pie trick. As fun as this all is, when your schedule is this jam packed for a week, you and the family are bound to need a day off to give your bodies a break somewhere along the ride. Luckily, there are tons of great ways to explore Snowmass sans ski poles. Ski season is almost over, but these tips are good all year ’round!
Below are some ways you and your crew can take a break from the mountain. Cap it all off with a relaxing night by the fire in one of our luxurious (but wallet-friendly) condominiums here at Stonebridge.
Treat Yourself in the AM
Snowmass Village offers a wide variety of different ways you and the family can brunch. Try out the smoothies at Fuel, or have a cup of coffee and enjoy the friendly atmosphere at Big Hoss Grill. Now that you’re not trying to gear up for a day on the mountain as you’re rushing out the door, take the opportunity to enjoy a big, delicious breakfast.
The Treehouse
Yep, you’ve heard about it many times. It says “No Parents Allowed” on the front door, and has been kid-tested, kid-approved for years. The Treehouse Kids’ Adventure will give your kids awesome memories of Snowmass off the mountain. Your kids have probably been raving about it nonstop the whole trip, especially if you’re staying with us-we’re right next-door! Plus, The Treehouse offers extensive childcare from a top-ranked staff, so if you need some couples’ time, this place has got you covered.
Hot Air Ballooning
Winter sports aren’t the only way to experience the breathtaking sights Snowmass has to offer. If your children are a little older, you can all hop aboard and take in the surreal Snowmass landscapes from a birds’ eye view.
Wapiti Wildlife Center
This ACES outpost is a very unique and rewarding way to get familiar with Snowmass. Both adults and kids will love getting to know all the different kinds of animals that take residence here. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be able to identify some tracks from the Elk Camp Gondola after this educational tour. ACES, the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, offers daily guided programming and naturalist guided tours at all times of year.
You can mix and match any of these activities, as this is a great jumping off point for your day-off itinerary. If you’re still curious about what else Snowmass can offer you and the family, check out our family fun and history page!
