The Stanley Hotel
If you’ve read Stephen King or seen The Shining, you know it as The Overlook Hotel. Yet that terrifying location in the book and movie was inspired by Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado.
King stayed in the hotel with his wife in 1973 and they were apparently the only guests, as the hotel planned to close the next day for winter. Figuring it was the perfect ghost story setting, he wrote The Shining. Since it’s publication, and the creation of the movie, ghost hunters and paranormal thrill-seekers have flocked to the hotel. During it’s appearance on Syfy’s “Ghost Hunters,” hosts claimed to find paranormal activity and spirits in the building.

Hawthorne Hotel
No doubt there has to be a haunted hotel in Salem, Massachusetts. While many believe the lost souls of witches killed during the trials haunt the town, the hotel is said to have its own particular spirits. Unexplained noises, a non-existent baby crying and a ghostly woman have all been spotted or heard.
Children that have stayed with their parents in Room 325 have often reported being woken up by a crying baby in the night, as well as the sink turning on and off and some tales of sheets being yanked straight off the bed by nothing other than thin air.
The Don CeSar
The tale of two ghostly lovers – Thomas Rowe, who built the hotel, fell for an opera star named Lucinda, yet her parents disapproved and took her back to London. Today, people report seeing the two strolling around the property before mysteriously disappearing.
The 5th floor, where Rowe lived, has many accounts of doors opening and shutting on their own as well as mysterious knocks.
We hope your Halloween is as spooky as these haunted hotels. We assure you there are no ghouls or ghosts hanging around at Stonebridge… Or is there!
