The amount of snow received in the Aspen Snowmass area this October is a promising sign for many this winter. As of Friday, October 12th, Gwynn’s High Alpine Restaurant at the top of Alpine Springs lift showed 12 inches. Rarely does the area receive that much snow in October, we’re hoping that it keeps coming!
For locals and Fall visitors alike, it’s time to break out the snow tires. Typically during this time of year in Snowmass, we’re enjoying dry or slightly rainy weather. This year has been a little different. With the fall colors in full form, we’ve had a few serious snowfalls in early October. Those forecasts calling for “plentiful snow” this year sound realistic right now!
So while we wait for the lifts to start turning and the mountains to reopen, here are a few photos to get you excited for the coming winter.

Some people couldn’t wait until the lifts started turning.
For those that prefer a cozy ride up the mountain rather than a leg powered one, you may be wondering “When do the lifts open at Snowmass?”
This year Snowmass predicts to open on November 22, 2018 and will likely close on April 21, 2019. This of course is all weather dependent.
