Snowmass is no longer the secret sister mountain to Aspen, but it’s almost guaranteed to have shorter lines and less crowded runs. On most weekends, lift lines have a maximum wait time of 2 minutes. If you know where to go, lines are non-existent.
With the recent snowfall, Snowmass has a good portion of its terrain open and there’s something for everyone out there. Most of the major lifts are running and ski patrol is working hard to ensure safety when opening more. Here are a few of our favorite runs at the moment:
- Big Burn – When Village Express gets a little tracked out or crowded, head to Big Burn and find solace. There’s so many runs you can choose from once you reach the top, but all are sure to excite. For the experts, Powerline Glades has been open since last week. This is a thrilling tree run with plenty of powder left if you look around. Dallas Freeway and Treeline are great intermediate runs with tons of fresh snow left as of Christmas.
- Sheer Bliss – If there is any sort of line at Big Burn (which there usually isn’t) ride past it and onto Sheer Bliss. The name says it all, but this lift gives you access to all that Big Burn does and maybe a little more, sans lift line.
- High Alpine – Another great lift for intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, High Alpine provides access to every sort of expert and extreme terrain. If there’s powder, look no further than High Alpine.
- Two Creeks Gondola – A great option for intermediate and beginner riders. This wide open, long run is mellow enough for beginners, with some fun to be had on the sides for intermediates.
