Preparation for your Snowmass vacation determines if you’re spending your first day in the pro shop or on the mountain. And, while Elk Camp serves delicious food and people watching, you came here to ski or ride the mountain. Follow these pro tips to gain an edge on your wintertime trip to Aspen Snowmass.
1. Check your gear. Are any velcro patches, zippers, or other fasteners wearing out? Is the Gore-Tex coating on your snow pants still sufficient waterproofing? Did your goggles get scratched in storage
2. Walk around in your boots before hitting the slopes for the first time. While critical for skiers, snowboarders can also benefit from assimilating to the compression felt by your lower legs when you’re tuned to shred. This can save you from sore shins and cranky feet the rest of the week so you can maximize your time on the slopes.
3. If you own your own skis, take them in for a tune. After drying out all summer, your boards can be slow, and a fresh edge feels excellent slicing the corduroy. At Stonebridge Condominiums, this means simply taking your skis or snowboard down Stay Tuned Ski Rentals at the ski concierge.
4. Exercise always helps, but there’s no substitute for altitude when it comes to training. Take it easy your first day out on the mountain. Take in the beautiful scenery of the Elk Mountains as you catch your breath. Going slow at first helps prevent season-ending injuries, too.
5. Follow Stonebridge Condominiums on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for updates on conditions and current photos of mountain life at Snowmass!
6. Even if you didn’t make it through the rest of this list, the most important point is to relax and HAVE FUN!
