Snowmass Village gets shorthand-labeled a ski resort, and the skiing is world-class — but that label undersells the place badly. This is a year-round mountain town with a full calendar in every season. Here’s the master list, organized by season, with links to our deeper guides on each one.
Winter: On the Snow
Ski or ride Snowmass itself — the largest of the four Aspen Snowmass mountains, with long groomers, legendary glades, and high-alpine steeps. Winter: Off the Snow
Non-skiers are not second-class citizens here. Snowshoe or Nordic ski 60-plus miles of groomed trails, skate two free village ice rinks, ride the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, tube at Elk Camp, take a snowmobile tour into the White River National Forest, or book a sleigh ride and a spa afternoon. Summer: The Mountain, Unlocked
Ride the Elk Camp Gondola for sightseeing, alpine meadows, and lunch at 9,765 feet. At the top, Lost Forest packs in the alpine coaster, a zipline canopy tour, ropes course, climbing wall, disc golf, and a fishing pond.
Bike the Snowmass Bike Park — lift-served downhill from mellow flow trails to expert lines, plus valley-wide cross-country riding. Our mountain biking guide covers trails, rentals, and lessons.

Do the events circuit: the Snowmass Rodeo every Wednesday evening June through August, free Thursday concerts on the Fanny Hill stage, the weekly farmers market, and the JAS Labor Day Experience. The whole season is covered in our summer in Snowmass guide.
Fall: The Golden Weeks
From roughly mid-September to early October, the aspen groves turn the valley gold. The gondola runs select fall weekends, the trails are quiet, and lodging rates drop. Day Trips Worth the Detour
Aspen is 20 minutes away by free-flowing RFTA bus — galleries, shopping, and a different mountain to ski (compare them in Snowmass vs. Aspen). The Maroon Bells, the most photographed peaks in North America, are a short shuttle ride up Maroon Creek Road — reserve access in advance during peak season. Glenwood Hot Springs, about an hour down-valley, is the classic storm-day or rest-day soak.
